After founding several companies with this management team, Yorktown invested in Indigo Natural Resources, a natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGLs) company that has a successful record of developing resources in the most attractive US shale plays. The company became the largest natural gas producer in North Louisiana, developing the Haynesville Shale, the Bossier Shale and the Holly Vaughn formation. Indigo also owned 50% of M5 Louisiana Gathering System comprising infrastructure necessary to gather, transport and process natural gas headed to the Gulf Coast for liquified natural gas (LNG) export.

In 2021, Indigo merged with Southwestern Energy (NYSE – SWN) to create one of the largest public companies focused on developing the Haynesville Shale.
