The founding partners of Yorktown were all previous employees of Dillon Read, a US investment bank, and were responsible for the firm’s energy investments from 1983 to 1997. In 1997, the partners formed Yorktown Partners as an independent entity following the sale of Dillon Read to Swiss Bank Corporation.
